Blackjack is a game that has a number of different variants like 21, Pontoon, Vingt et un and many more. One of the most important of these variations is Spanish Blackjack. All the variations of the game take the basic premise of the game and make a couple of changes to the rules so that, while the objective of the game remains the same, players still have like a number of different options and rules.
Spanish Blackjack is now slowly gaining a lot of popularity with players around the world. This means that many casinos both online and offline have been offering these games for players. This article describes the various nuances of Spanish Blackjack.
What is Spanish Blackjack?
The difference between regular Blackjack and Spanish Blackjack is that in this version of the game, all the decks in play do not have Ten cards. So the game is played with a deck with 48 cards instead of the standard 52.
Another big difference between this game and other blackjack games is that when the player has some particular hand combinations, he/she will receive a bonus. The other major difference is that when the player holds a Blackjack, it will beat the Dealer’s Blackjack no matter what. The game of Spanish Blackjack is played using 8 decks of 48 cards each, which is a standard pack minus the cards of value 10.
The bonuses in Spanish Blackjack do not apply to hands that the player has doubled down. The most important bonuses in Spanish Blackjack are the 5-card bonus, which applies to players whose total adds up to 21 with a 5 card hand. It gives the player a 3:2 bonus. Three sevens of different suits rewards the player with a 3:2, while a total of 21 achieved with 7 or more cards has a 3 to 1 payout.
In this game, with a hand of 8, 7 and 6 or three 7s of spades has a 3 to 1 payout. Any other 6, 7 and 8 of a single suit or three 7s of the same suit will have a payout worth double the player’s wager. The biggest bonus of all is reserved for a hand with 3 sevens of the same suit while the dealer has an open card 7. In this case, the payout is worth fifty times the initial wager.
Rules of Spanish Blackjack
The rules of Spanish Blackjack vary slightly from casino to casino. The main rule to keep in mind is that when the player and the dealer have a Blackjack, the player will always win. Also, the dealer will receive a hole card and the player plays first.
Many casinos force the dealer to stand on both a soft and hard 17. When the player has a Blackjack, the payout is the same with any blackjack game and worth 3:2 the initial bet. When the player takes insurance and wins, he/she will receive a 2:1 payout. Finally, players can only split four hands, but splitting of Aces is allowed.
