Craps Rules
Craps is a popular casino game that is available at almost all casinos, whether online or brick and mortar. This game is in fact, one of the most played casino games in the US.
The Rules of Craps
The first rule of the game is that any player who wishes to be the shooter must place a bet that is worth at least the table minimum and this bet muse be either a Don’t Pass or a Pass line bet. The shooting rights then passes around the table in a clockwise manner, with the player having the option of refusing to be the shooter. When a player agrees to be the shooter, he/she has a set of five dice from which the player must choose any two.
The first roll that is made by the shooter is called the Come Out Roll, which is played with the intent of the player establishing what is known as a “point”. In case the first roll ends with a total of 2, 3 or 12, then the roll is termed “Craps” and all the players that have made Pass Line bets will lose. If the Come Out Roll is worth 7 or 11, then all the Pass Line Bets win and the roll is said to be a Natural. This come out roll continues until the player establishes a Point. The come out roll is said to have ended if the player rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 and this number is marked as the “Point”. The shooter will then continue to roll the dice with the aim of getting either a Seven or the Point. When the result of a roll is a Seven, all Pass line bets lose and the shooter must then retire.
Whenever a shooter is rolling the dice, there are certain rules that must be followed. The first one is that that all shooters must only shoot with one hand. The shooter must also ensure that the dice hit the far corner of the table and then bounce off this corner before coming to a rest. In case a die falls off the table, then the shooter has the chance to either request that the same die be kept in play, in which case it will be carefully inspected first, or he/she can choose a new die.
Types of Craps Bets
The craps table is divided into three sections depending on the different kinds of bets. Two sides of the table are identical and these are where the most common kinds of bets are available. The Pass Line and the Don’t Pass Line bets are by far the most popular kinds of bets. These bets are mainly on the chance of the shooter establishing a point. The Pass odds bet is a bet that is worth as much as five times the initial pass line bet on the chances of the player shooting two points before a seven. The other common bets are the Come and the Don’t Come bets which are the same as the pass and don’t pass line bets, except that they take place over two rounds. Finally, the center of the table is home to what are known as the single roll or proposition bets, which have a much higher payout. These bets are wagers on the chances of a player rolling a certain combination of the dice.
